Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 1/13/10

Receipts:  1232   Last Week:  723   Last Year:  1221

   Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows sold steady to 1.00 higher
and slaughter bulls 1.00-2.00 higher on a heavy supply. Temperatures
approaching the 50 degree mark drew out a much larger number of individuals
for the auction today and they were provided a good selection of bred cows
and cow/calf pairs by several large dispersals included in the offering.
Supply was heavy and demand good for slaughter classes.

from dispersals 900.00-1050.00, 1st stage 1070-1325 lbs 625.00-725.00;
broken mouth to aged 3rd stage 1100 lb indiv. 525.00. Large 1-2  2-5
yrs 2nd and 3rd stage 1265-1450 lbs 850.00-935.00. Medium and Large 2
3 yr 3rd stage 975 lb indiv. 650.00. Medium 1-2  4 yrs to short and solid
mouth 2nd and 3rd stage 925-1050 lbs most 500.00-625.00, black indiv. 3rd

   Cow/Calf Pairs:  Medium and Large 1-2  2-6 yrs 1040-1340 lb cows w/
babies to 250 lb calves and several rebred 900.00-1135.00, couple w/new
born calves 850.00; 7 yrs to short and solid mouth 1100-1300 lb cows w/
140-175 lb calves and a few rebred 785.00-875.00; broken mouth 1095 lb cow
w/125 lb calf 675.00. Medium and Large 2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth
875-1250 lb cows w/babies to 160 lb calves 650.00-700.00. Medium 1-2  short
and solid mouth 1000 lb cow w/175 lb calf and rebred 875.00; broken mouth
to aged 1000-1050 lb cows w/160-175 lb calves 550.00-650.00.
