Area students got a belated Christmas present when snow and frigid temperatures extended the holiday break by several days.
Schools are required to make up days missed. Districts must make up the first six days missed of the 174-day school year. After the six days, every other day missed would have to be made up.
According to the Monett Superintendents Office, Monett cancelled school on Jan. 7 and Jan. 8. The district will make-up those days on May 24 and May 25, extending the school year by two days.
Pierce City Schools missed Jan. 4, Jan. 7 and Jan. 8. They will make up those days on Jan. 18, Feb. 15 and March 12.
Purdy Schools missed Jan. 4, Jan. 7 and Jan. 8. Their make up days will be Feb. 22, May 20 and May 21.
Verona School missed Jan. 7, Jan. 8 and one other day earlier in the year due to flooding. Their make up days will be May 21, May 24 and May 25.
