Missouri Weekly Hay Summary - Week ending 01/08/2010

A major winter storm hit Missouri on Wednesday afternoon with 4 to 6 inches of 
new snow, high winds and falling temperatures. Drifting snow is a major concern 
as of now and the Highway Patrol and MODOT are asking motorists not to travel 
unless they absolutely have to. This storm has put a halt to all movement of 
hay. Cattle producers are spending their days feeding and thawing out water 
supplies. Hay demand will surely increase as soon as the weather will allow for 
purchasing and movement of hay. Hay prices are steady, demand moderate, and 
supply is heavy. Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available
