Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 1/06/10

   Compared to three weeks ago, breaking and boning slaughter cows sold
3.00-4.00 higher and lean cows and slaughter bulls 1.00 higher. Packer
buyers bid aggressively to fill their orders on the first sale following
the Holidays and just ahead of the next winter storm moving into the area.
Higher slaughter prices and only a few take-home kind of buyers in attend-
ance found the majority of cows traded scheduled to take a ride on the
packers truck. Supply was moderate and demand very good for slaughter
classes.

and 3rd stage 1060-1345 lbs 600.00-825.00, 1st stage 1125-1200 lbs 550.00-
700.00; broken mouth to aged 3rd stage pkg. 1200 lbs 555.00. Large 1-2  5
yrs 2nd and 3rd stage 1400-1550 lbs 750.00-950.00. Medium 1-2  5-6 yrs 2nd
