He was born on Aug. 12, 1942, in Greenfield, Mo., the son of Carl and Alta Lorene (Read) Parnell. Jimmie graduated in 1960 from Raytown High School and was a counselor in the public school system, retiring in 2008.
He was a Southern Baptist Minister and was a member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church in Yakima, Wash. On June 3, 1962, he married Beverly Joy Huckaby in Nevada, Mo. She preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 2008.
Those who survive are: two daughters: Debi Marlott and her husband, Wayne and their daughter, Samantha Lorene Marlott, of Liberty, Mo., and Julie Freed and her husband, David, of Bothell, Wash.; cousins: Sandra Sue Drysdale, of Everton, Mo. and JoAnn Hickey of Greenfield, Mo. His parents and wife preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, in the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, in Miller. Private family burial will follow in the Pennsboro Cemetery. A visitation was held prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Pennsboro Cemetery Fund, in care of the funeral home.
