With 193 points, the Monett Cubs wrestling team placed 15th among the 24 teams competing last week in the annual Springfield Holiday Tournament.
Monett had one first place finisher, two second place finishers, one third place finisher, one fourth place finisher and two fifth place finishers.
"We wrestled really well on the second day of the tournament," said Monett Coach Daryl Bradley. "We improved from our first competition to this tournament.
"We are starting to compete at a high level," Bradley said. "I am encouraged that we will continue to make strides in the future."
Ethan Davis, of the Cubs, was Monett's lone champion. He pinned Joel Rolla in the finals to record his 100th career victory. Davis, at 145 pounds, had an 8-0 record in the tourney.
Juan Renteria, at 135 pounds, and Zack Irwin, at 152 pounds, finished second. Renteria had a 5-3 tourney record and Irwin had a 4-4 tourney mark.
Chris Renteria, at 125 pounds, took third place. He had a 7-1 record in the tournament.
Carter Huffmaster finished fourth. Weighing in at 140 pounds, he had a tourney record of 6-2.
Matt Schiffner, at 171 pounds, and Nicky Roberts, at 112 pounds, finished fifth. Schiffner had a 4-4 tourney record, and Roberts was 4-3 in the tournament.
Also wrestling for the Cubs was Clayton Patton at 130 pounds. He had a 3-2 record.
Monett will host Republic in a dual at 6 p.m. on Thursday at E.E. Camp Gymnasium.
