Shirley Wilkey, age 67, of Checotah, Okla., died on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 in Crane, MO.
She was born on Jan. 28, 1942 to Hallie and Clarice Elizabeth (Horton) Ball.
She was reared in Monett, MO and attended Monett High School. Following her marriage, she reared her family in Tecumseh, Okla.
On Aug. 11, 1989, she married John C. Wilkey in Gainesville, Texas. They lived in McLoud, Okla. until moving to Checotah, Okla. where she has resided since.
She retired from Tinker Air Force Base. Shirley loved to travel and dance. Together with her husband John, they traveled to every state in the U.S. in their motor home, also visiting Hawaii, Canada and Cancun, Mexico. She was currently planning a trip to Italy in the spring.
She enjoyed clothing and jewelry. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a focal point in her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wilkey on Dec. 1, 2008; her parents; and one sister, Peggy Ramsey.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Rhonda and Jody Stafford, of Tecumseh, Okla.; son: Randy Fare, of Branson; grandchildren: Malania and David Hammer, of Shawnee, Okla., Jessica and Steven Yones of Mildenhall Air Force Base, in England, and Shane Stafford, of Tecumseh, Okla.; great-grandchildren: Michael, Connor, Garrett, Devin and Samantha Hammer and many friends and family.
|Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28 at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh, Okla.
