Girls basketball teams from Verona, Purdy, Pierce City and Exeter notched area wins over the weekend.
Verona defeated Golden City on Friday 62-23 and then beat Chadwick 66-55 in the Walnut Grove Tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Wildcats took a 19-0 first quarter lead on the way to beating Golden City.
Tristan Carrasquillo led Verona's scoring attack with 20 points. Also scoring for Verona were Jenna Chadd with 14 points, Beth Bigham with 11 points, Jessica Smith with 8 points, Taylor Pinkley and Jordan Butler with 4 points each and Whitney Shue with 1 point.
Verona outscored Chadwick 16-5 in the final quarter to pull away and win the tournament game.
"The girls plays hard," said Verona Coach Ryan Yates. "They kept their composure and got the win. We now must prepare for a very good Couch team on Saturday."
Scoring for Verona were Smith with 27 points, Carrasquillo with 20 points, Chadd with 10 points, Jori Dodson with 10 points and Bigham with 3 points.
Smith led the team in rebounds and assists with seven each. Chadd had three steals.
The Purdy Lady Eagles took a 19-14 first quarter lead enroute to beating Exeter 61-44 on Friday.
Addy Roller led Purdy in scoring with 28 points. Also scoring for the Lady Eagles were Audrey Patton with 12 points, Shelby White with 8 points, Brooke Swadley with 7 points and Shelby Scott and Brittany Mareth with 3 points each.
Scoring for Exeter were Destini Stensrud with 18 points, Shelby Bowman with 7 points, Ashton Scott and Abbey Scott with 6 points each, Nicholle O'Neill with 4 points and Lyndsay Kidwell with 3 points.
Pierce City outscored the Wheaton Lady Bulldogs 24-5 in the middle two quarters on the way to winning 50-28 on Friday.
Scoring for Pierce City were Kaelyn Osborn with 15 points, Abby Ashley and Megan Golubski with 12 points each, Emily Ashley with 10 points, Rachel Miller with 8 points and Krishna Merriman with 3 points.
Scoring for Wheaton were Kasey Littlefield with 8 points, Jessica Haynes and Mica Tichenor with 6 points each and Kaitlin England and Megan Brattin with 4 points each.
The Exeter girls downed Dadeville 60-45 in the Walnut Grove tourney on Saturday.
Scoring for Exeter were Stensrud with 19 points, Bowman with 12 points, Chelbie Kern with 8 points, Kidwell with 7 points, Ashton Scott with 6 points, Sarah Staples with 4 points and Abbey Scott and O'Neill with 2 points each.
The Verona boys lost on Friday to Golden City 51-35.
Scoring for Verona were Cody Ernsberger with 15 points, Wesley Kissinger with 8 points, Larry Patterson with 7 points, Nick Washam with 3 points and Clifford Williams with 2 points.
