The Monett Jaycees Toys for Tots campaign is now underway. Toys are now being collected for distribution to children in less fortunate families for the Christmas holiday.
According to Darrin Hensen, chairman of the drive, collection boxes have been placed at Modern Variety, UMB Bank, U.S. Bank and Community National Bank. Toys can also be dropped off at Top Hat and Dutch Maid Cleaners.
"We'd like to receive new or gently used toys," Hensen said. "All donations will be distributed by Linn Thornton in his annual Christmas effort, so the toys will all stay in Barry and Lawrence counties."
Collections will continue into Dec. 23.
Toys for Tots is the Monett Jaycees' main holiday season effort after Thanksgiving baskets. Hundreds of toys are distributed every year through the program.
