The 36th annual Golden Age dinner was held on Nov. 19 at the Monett High School cafeteria with over 300 attending.
The event is a gift from the Monett High School Student Council and the Monett R-1 School Board to all of area senior citizens.
Approximately 90 students serve and entertain guests.
Beau Bounous, student body president and chairman, presented the welcome followed by the singing of the National Anthem by Whitney Dahlstrom, Briana Peterson, Brianna Petersen, Luis Rueda, Sara Cuendet and Kole Polach-Eden.
The evening's menu, prepared by the R-1 cafeteria's staff, consisted of the traditional Thanksgiving holiday turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, jello, carrots and hot rolls.
Seniors and students enjoyed playing bingo with Bounous calling the numbers and Hayley LaGarce, Bailey Wormington and Briana Peterson presenting prizes.
Entertainment was provided by pianists Anna Arnaud, Jason George and Chelsey Jones.
Certificates were presented to senior citizens in the following categories: most great-grandchildren; meeting at Golden Age dinner then marrying; attending all 36 dinners; oldest American veteran; being married the longest; most pets; oldest graduate of Monett High School; and having the oldest car.
Contributers to the event included the M-Club, Key Club, FCCLA, Grant's Restaurant, B&B Theatre, Burger King, Brownsbergers, Attitudes, Perfect Images, Bayou Lunchbox, Tried & True, Blessings Bookstore, The Woods, Coast to Coast, Braum's, Curves, Community National Bank, Cliff and Dee Crockett, YEP and FBLA.
