Girls basketball teams from Pierce City and Purdy and boys teams from Wheaton and Pierce City posted victories in area tournaments yesterday and Monday.

Wheaton took a 33-27 halftime lead on the way to defeating Joplin McAuley 67-49 last night.
Donovan Bartkoski led the Wheaton scoring attack with 18 points. James Musick was also in double figures with 13 points.
The Pierce City boys beat Diamond 57-48 on Monday.
Trailing 43-41 entering the last quarter, Pierce City outscored Diamond 16-5 to claim the win.
Wayne Joe Sooter led Pierce City in scoring with 16 points. Cody Cox added 12 points.
Verona fell behind Thomas Jefferson 19-5 after the first quarter and could not recover in losing 70-28.
Wesley Kissinger tallied 10 points for Verona.
Ash Grove Tournament
The Pierce City Lady Eagles upended Morrisville 53-43 in the girls Ash Grove tourney last night.
Pierce City took a 22-17 lead by intermission enroute to the win.
Kaelyn Osborn fired in 17 points for the Lady Eagles. Megan Golubski added 12 points.
The Purdy Lady Eagles sprinted to a 20-6 first quarter lead on the way to defeating Bolivar 64-54 last night in the girls Aurora tourney.
Shelby White led a balanced Purdy scoring attack with 25 points. Also in twin figures were Audrey Patton with 15 points and Addy Roller with 13 points.
The Verona Lady Wildcats were easily handled by Mt. Vernon 55-18.
Tristan Carrasquillo tallied 12 points for Verona.
In the boys Clever tourney, the Purdy Eagles were out-scored 33-24 in the first half and could not come back in losing to Clever 66-38 on Monday.
Riley Veith was Purdy's leading scorer with 10 points.
