|Fundraising for the Monett Branch Library building project continues with silent auctions sponsored by the||Monett library staff and the Friends of the Monett Branch Library.|
Several items have been donated by the Friends and are displayed in the lobby to entice library patrons and the general public to place bids on the gift items.
"The variety of items featured will make great Christmas presents," said Jean Berg, library director.
Auction items include: a stationery gift basket donated by Bruner Pharmacy, Inc.; a hand-painted child's rocking chair donated by Anne Marie Rausch; a BellaLuce size 9 ring donated by Alfreda Wells; a 12-piece barbecue utensil set; a portable speaker for an iPod; a Yankee Candle boxed set; a Brother electronic personal labeler; a Rachael Ray eight inch skillet with utensil set; a Sudoku board game; a gift basket for a kitty with cat food, treats and toys plus a copy of "Dewey: the Small Town Library Cat who Touched the World;" a Boyd's stuffed bear; a Gund stuffed bear; a Wii fitness bundle; and an original stained glass bowl with Christmas ornaments.
Artwork includes: a Charles C. Summey print of "The Monett Depot;" a triple framed decorative snowman donated by Jeanne Ann Camp; a set of two framed floral prints plus another framed floral print donated by Felicity Nesbitt; and an original lighthouse painting.
Gift certificates for the auction are from the Animal Clinic of Monett for a dog neutering and a canine heartworm test, plus a $10 gift certificate from Denali Dreams of Monett.
Bids will be recorded in a notebook at the library for each item. Deadline for final bids is 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19. At that time the successful silent bidder will be awarded the item.
Apple butter has also been donated to the library by the Monett Lions Club and is being sold at the desk, along with Sister Soup mixes for soup and dips.
"Visit the local library for some special Christmas shopping and help contribute to the building project," Berg said.
