Charley William Bertalot, age 101, was called to his heavenly Father on Thursday, November 19, 2009 in Tulsa, Okla.
He was born on March 20, 1908 in Barry County, Monett, Missouri to John J. and Mary Belle (Teel) Bertalot. He married the love of his life, Abbie Clair Rebecca Hainlen on August 30, 1930 in Enid, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Abbie Clair, his three brothers, Arthur, Freddie and Orville, and three sisters, Irene Babcock, Marzella Reynolds and Stella Riddle.
He is survived by one son, Charles John Edward Bertalot and wife, Dolores. He is also survived by six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren plus five nephews, four nieces and a host of great nephews, great nieces, cousins and many friends.
He was a Classified A Journeyman Electrician and a retiree member of Local IBEW 584. He was a life member 32nd degree Mason and Shriner, Past Patron of Eastern Star and member of Delta Chapter 425. Charley was honored to be inducted into the Centenarian Club of Oklahoma when he turned 100 years old. Charley thrived on working hard and one of his favorite sayings was "the early bird gets the worm." He was instrumental in helping to maintain and doing various electrical work at Sandusky Christian Church, of which he was a member.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 22 and funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at Sandusky Christian Church in Tulsa, Okla. Interment was at Floral Haven in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma all under the direction of Moore's Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa, Okla.
