* Howard Randall, of Monett, is now confined to his home on account of a throat ailment.

* Miss Edith Mermoud, of Monett, visited in Springfield on Saturday with her uncle, Dr. L.E. Meador and Mrs. Meador.

November 20, 1949

* Moss Market, operated in Monett for 11 years by Oren Moss, has completed remodeling into a modern IGA Supermarket.

* Students at Marshall Hill School in Monett received a thank you note from Rome, Italy, this week for the CARE package which was sent to the unfortunate in Europe in April.

FIFTY YEARS AGO

November 20, 1959

* Eddie Sweeney, a sophomore at Monett High School, was named first place winner in the annual American Legion oratorical contest at the school this morning.

* The Monett High School junior class play The False Alarm was termed a big success last night at the high school auditorium.

November 20, 1969

* Raymond Krueger, senior end with the Monett Cubs football team, was selected winner of the Dale Shepherd Memorial Award for 1969 by the Monett Quarterback Club last night.

* Kenneth Medlin, of Monett, commander of the Seventh District Veterans of Foreign Wars, was elected Grand Deputy Aide-de-Camp in the Department of Missouri yesterday.

* Steven Ruscha, of Verona, was awarded a scholarship during the Southwest Missouri State University 41st annual Agriculture Improvement Program.

* Linn Thornton was elected president of the Centerline Club in Pierce City on Thursday.

* Melissa McCoy, third grade, and Leah Cochran, fourth grade, have joined the teaching staff at Purdy Elementary School.

* Anthony Matteson, son of Tony Matteson, of Aurora, and Raynetta Montgomery, of Amarillo, Texas, has been promoted to the rank of specialist in the Army.

* Bob Bartelsmeyer, Lawrence County Clerk, recently escorted political leaders from several states to Poland and Hungary on an international exchange program.
