Vernon Arivett

Mr. Vernon Arivett, 90, of Purdy, passed away at Cox Monett Hospital on Saturday, November 7, 2009. He was born August 14, 1919 to Reuben and Laura Eugene (Freeman) Arivett, in Bandana, Kentucky. He was united in marriage to Helen Pullen on December 16, 1950 in Palmyra, Missouri. She survives.

Vernon served in the Army during WWII and was a retired bus driver for Monett schools.

Vernon is also survived by three sons: Bud, of Le Claire, Ia, Buddy, of Verona, Mo., and David, of Joplin, Mo.; three daughters, Gloria Shirr, of West Hills, Ca., Alice Cahalan, of Pierce City, Mo., and Becky Latimer, of Troy, Mo.; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Leon Arivett.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 6 till 8 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Mo. Burial will be at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the care of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett, Missouri.
