Tickets are now on sale for the Monett Chamber of Commerce's Festival of Flavors, the annual tasting event featuring delicacies from eateries and food industry specialists from around the area.
Cindy Stephens, Festival of Flavors chairperson, said 19 vendors have signed up to share their cooking. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church gymnasium on Seventh Street. Parking is available across the street and around the church property.
The festival was moved a week earlier this year at the request of vendors to relieve conflicts from Thanksgiving commitments, Stephens said.
"The event shows what vendors offer every day, including the holidays," Stephens said. "It's a chance to sample food from restaurants and possible specialties during the holiday season."
Among the new vendors this year will be several from Monett; including Mocha Jo's, Denali Dreams and Connoisseurs. Southern Missouri Beekeepers of Monett will offer honey specialties, while Mailboxes and More will provide soup and cake mixes.
Vendors new to the event from outside Monett will include the Red Barn from Mt. Vernon and the Blackbird Grill and Kafé Metropolitan from Aurora. Returning favorites will include the culinary arts class from the Southwest Missouri Career Center, Mazzio's in Monett, Alice Irene's from Marionville and specialties from Monett industries Tyson Foods and International Dehydrated Foods.
The chamber will decorate the hall to create a festive atmosphere, Stephens said. Vendors will set up in the gym. Dining will be set up in several areas around the facility to maximize access. The Monett High School Jazz Band will provide live music for the occasion from the gym stage.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children seven to 12. Only 300 tickets will be sold. Any left over will be offered at the door.
Stephens encouraged diners to buy tickets early at the chamber office at 200 E. Broadway or at a variety of businesses, including Mocha Jo's Mailboxes and More and UMB Bank.
