With a score of 48, the Monett Cubs boys took second place Saturday in the Big 8 Conference cross country meet held at East Newton. The host Patriots won the meet with a score of 30.
Other boys teams and scores were Lamar 59, Carl Junction 108 and Cassville 135.
In addition, two Monett boys and one Monett girl got first team All-Conference honors.
"I was pleased with all the races," said Monett Coach Andy Lemons. "I know the boys are disappointed in finishing second, but they competed as well as they could have."
Earning first team All-Conference honors for the Monett boys were: Chris Renteria, fifth place with a time of 18:01.49; and Micha Miller, sixth place with a time of 18:21.08.
For the Monett girls, Hannah Martin was first team All-Conference by finishing seventh in the girls race with a time of 11:06.03.
"Hannah is getting better every meet," said Lemons. "She'll have a great opportunity to go to state for the third time this weekend at the district meet at Bolivar."
Two Monett boys runners garnered second team All-Conference honors. They were: Juan Renteria, ninth with a time of 18:37.87; and Isaac Weber, 11th with a time of 18:50.53.
Other results for the Monett boys were: Conner Kimzey, 17th with a time of 19:16.48; Bill Townsend, 19th with a time of 19:36.67; and Michael Morley, 29th with a time of 20:16.52.
Monett did not score in the girls meet. East Newton took first place with a score of 25.
Other Monett girls running were: Lauren Sebastian, 20th with a time of 25:51.17; and Skyler Ginther, 27th with a time of 29:14.61.
