Lady Cubs Seeded Fifth In District Volleyball Tournament

Seedings have been announced for area district volleyball tournaments.

Monett, seeded fifth, will open the Class 3A District 12 event at Carl Junction. The Lady Cubs will play fourth-seeded Nevada at 6 p.m. Third-seeded East Newton will meet sixth-seeded Seneca at 7:30 p.m.

Carl Junction, the top seed, and second-seeded McDonald County drew byes.

On Tuesday, Carl Junction will play the winner of the Monett-Nevada game in the first semifinal game at 5:30 p.m. McDonald County will play the winner of the East Newton-Seneca game at 7 p.m.

Winners of the semifinal games will meet at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday for the tournament championship.

In Class 2A, Pierce City, Southwest, and Purdy travel to Diamond for the District 11 tournament. Southwest faces Purdy at 6 p.m. on Monday in a #4 and #5 match-up. The winner of match will play against top-seeded College Heights on Tuesday.

Pierce City, the #2 seed, drew a bye and will play on Tuesday against second--seeded Diamond.

Cassville drew the #2 seeding in the Class 3A District 11 tournament at Aurora. The Lady Wildcats received an opening-night bye, and will face the winner of the Reeds Spring-Aurora match at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Teams competing in the Class 3A District 7 tourney at Marionville include Billings, Exeter, Galena, Hurley, Verona, Wheaton, and Marionville.
