Monett was defeated but Pierce City won in area volleyball action last night.
In a Big 8 Conference contest at Monett last night, the Lady Cubs lost to Mt. Vernon by scores of 16-25 and 23-25.
Overall, the Lady Cubs are now 11-20-1. In the league, Monett is 1-5.
"It was a very emotional night because it was Senior Night," said Monett Coach Shyrah Boyle. "I am so proud of our four seniors: Tandi Glouse, Keli Cornell, Brooke Beckwith and Chelsey Abramovitz. They have instilled hard work and dedication into the program."
Boyle added, "We played stronger and better against Mt. Vernon than in the past. I was proud of the changes we made to make a better run at them."
Statistical leaders for Monett were Keli Cornell and Jenny Frazier with four kills each, Hunter Glouse with three blocks and Madison Carlin and Maddie Schmidt with nine assists each.
Monett also lost the junior varsity game by scores of 19-25 and 20-25.
Statistical leaders for the jayvees were Elise Meyer with eight kills and Mackenzie Lay with nine digs.
The Lady Cubs will end the regular season tomorrow night at Lamar. It will be a conference game.
Pierce City beat Golden City by scores of 25-18 and 25-16 in Spring River Valley Conference action.
Statistical leaders for Pierce City were Megan Golubski with 13 assists, Kaelyn Osborn with 15 digs and Chelsey Levingston and Brianna Zebert with four kills each.
