The Monett Lady Cubs took fourth place Saturday in the prestigious Ozark Grand Slam volleyball tournament. A total of 12 teams competed in the three-pool event.
"It was a tough tournament," said Monett Coach Shyrah Boyle.
"Several of our girls played well," Boyle said. "Keli Cornell had a good all-around tournament. Our setters, Madison Carlin and Maddie Schmidt, did a better job defensively. Mackenzie Lay had good communication with her teammates."
Monett, in the black pool, lost to Republic 13-25 and 19-25 and to Winona 22-25 and 19-25 before beating West Plains 25-19 and 25-21.
The Lady Cubs then went to the Bronze Division where they lost to Carl Junction 22-15 and 16-25.
In the third place game, Monett fell to Bolivar 26-28 and 19-25.
Carl Junction won the tournament by defeating West Plains 25-22 and 26-24.
Monett is now 11-19-1 for the year.
The Lady Cubs play tomorrow at home versus Mt. Vernon in a Big 8 Conference encounter.
"We will recognize all of our seniors tomorrow night," said Boyle.
