Merle Jenkins

Mrs. Merle Peck Jenkins, 99, died peacefully Sept. 16, 2009, in her apartment in Claridge Court, Prairie Village, KS. Mrs. Jenkins was born in Goltry, OK in 1910. She moved with her family to Bentonville, AR, in 1912, and then to Carthage, MO, in 1919. After graduating from Carthage High School in 1927, she married Carl H. Jenkins in 1934. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Aurora, MO, where Mr. Jenkins was employed by the Gas Service Company. With his job they moved to Monett, MO, Joplin, MO, Topeka, KS, and then to Leawood, KS, in November 1960.

Survivors include two married sons, Stephen and Kay, of Shawnee, KS and Dale and Bonnie, of Overland Park, KS, seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Merle was a member of her P.E.O. chapter for over 70 years, and an active member of the Village Presbyterian Church, Prairie Village, KS. She was a devoted wife, mother, home-maker, and grandmother.

Inurnment will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. A celebration of life memorial service is planned for 11:00 AM, October 10, 2009, at the Presbyterian Church of Stanley, 14895 Antioch, Overland Park, KS. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to VITAS Hospice, 10000 W 75th, Overland Park, KS, or to PEO Chapter FE c/o 725 W 100th Ct, Kansas City, MO 64114. (Arr: Mt.
