Monett Captures Big 8 Volleyball Game

Monett won, Pierce City split and Verona lost in volleyball games played last night and Monday.

At Seneca last night, the Monett spikers won in Big 8 Conference action by scores of 25-21 and 25-17.

"I am very proud of the urgency to get better this time of year," said Monett Lady Cubs Coach Shyrah Boyle. "We have exciting games coming up, and we are preparing in the way I want us to."

Statistical leaders for the Lady Cubs were Amanda McKinney with 11 digs and Maddie Schmidt with 10 assists.

Monett also won the junior varsity contest by scores of 15-19 and 25-18.

Statistical leaders for the jayvee Lady Cubs were Jerica Wiseman with six kills and Mackenzie Lay with three aces.

Monett plays at home against Aurora tomorrow.

On Monday, the Pierce City Lady Eagles defeated East Newton by scores of 27-25, 24-26 and 25-19.

Statistical leaders for Pierce City were Kaelyn Osborn with 25 digs and four aces, Brianna Zebert with four blocks, Chelsey Abramovitz with 14 kills and Megan Golubski with 26 assists.

Pierce City lost on Tuesday to Diamond by scores of 16-25, 25-20 and 22-25.

Statistical leaders for Pierce City were Osborn with 12 kills and eight digs, Makina Kelly with 18 digs and Golubski with 20 assists.

Verona fell to Reeds Spring on Monday by scores of 21-25, 25-17 and 27-29.

Statistical leaders for Verona were Tristan Carrasquillo with 12 kills, Jori Dodson with 11 kills, Beth Bigham with 29 assists and Jenna Chadd with 18 digs.
