Dr. Carol Dahlstrom, D.V.M., with the Animal Clinic of Monett, has been named the Veterinarian of the Year by the Missouri Animal Control Association.

Dahlstrom was recently presented a plaque from the organization by Alicia Holle, animal control officer for Monett.

The Missouri Animal Control Association was founded in 1977 to provide professional training, education and support for animal care and control professionals across Missouri and for those in surrounding states. Membership includes animal control officers, Humane Society officers, law enforcement, veterinarians and others working in the field of animal care and control.

Each year during the organization's annual training conference, peers and community members are recognized for exceptional efforts. Dahlstrom was nominated by Holle.

"The Animal Clinic has always done vaccinations of animals brought in by the city," Holle said. "Recently we brought in a dog that had been hit by a car at 10:20 p.m. ,and a staff member took care of it. Any time, whether it's personal or professional, Dr. Dahlstrom and the Animal Clinic have done everything they can to help the city.

"On behalf of the City of Monett, I want to say thank you to Dr. Carol Dahlstrom and her staff for going above and beyond the call of duty for the community," Holle added.
