Lady Cubs Blanked In Softball

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

In non-conference action last night, the Monett Lady Cubs softball team was blanked 3-0 by the host McDonald County Mustangs.

Monett dropped to 14-5 on the season.

"We just weren't very sharp," said Monett Coach Ty Goetz.

"Defensively, we had some miscues that cost us, and offensively, we didn't hit the ball hard," Goetz said. "McDonald County is a good team, and we must play better against a quality opponent like that."

McDonald County scored two runs in the first inning and added another run in the fifth.

The Lady Cubs threatened in the top of the sixth when EmiLee Davis tripled with two outs but were unable to score.Paige Marney was the losing pitcher. She allowed six hits and struck out six.

Monett next plays tomorrow at home versus East Newton.
