Jessica Sullivan limited the Monett Lady Cubs to just four hits in pitching the Carl Junction Lady Bulldogs past visiting Monett, 2-0, in a Big 8 Conference softball game last night.
"Once again we had a lot of chances to score but just couldn't get the timely hit," said Monett Coach Ty Goetz. "Leaving the bases loaded in the fourth inning with no outs really hurt."
Monett dropped to 3-2 in the league and 9-3 on the year. Carl Junction remained perfect in the conference at 3-0 and went to 10-5 on the season.
Paige Marney, of Monett, also hurled a good game, allowing only five hits, but was the loser.
Marney and Sullivan matched goose eggs until the fourth inning when Carl Junction got the only run it would need. The run scored on a squeeze bunt.
Aubrey Lemaster, of Monett, had the only extra-base hit of the game, a double.
Monett plays at Aurora today in another league contest.
