Monett Netters Down Aurora, 7-2

In a tennis encounter at Aurora yesterday the Monett Lady Cubs took five of six singles matches and two out of three doubles matches to win by a 7-2 score.

Monett is now 4-5 on the season.

"It was a good conference win," said Monett Coach Bob Crain. "The girls are 3-1 against conference teams."

Winning in singles play for Monett were: Mollie Fulton over Emmelliey Zellers 8-4; Brittany Huebner over Katrina Conn 8-5; Katelyn Sperandio over Tita Medina 8-4; Sophie Fulton over Natalie Phipps 8-3; and Nrupa Desai over Brianna Jenkins 8-1.

Losing in singles action was Theresa Mangler to Sarah Burnett 7-9.

Recording doubles wins for the Lady Cubs were Mollie Fulton and Huebner over Zellers and Conn 8-4; and Sophie Fulton and Desai over Burnett and Jenkins 8-3.

"The number one doubles team of Mollie and Brittany avenged their only loss of the season when they won their match," Crain said.

Defeated in doubles action was Sperandio and Mangler by Medina and Phipps 4-8.

In exhibition play, Carrie Robbins won in singles competition. The doubles team of Robbins and Kerry Tinklepaugh was victorious.
