With a score of 232, Monett's varsity boys finished ninth out of 20 teams competing yesterday in the cross country meet at Carthage.
Rogers, Ark., won the meeting with 37 points and Carthage was second with 58.
"I was very pleased with the races," said Monett Coach Andy Lemons. "The boys varsity have a lot of work to do before the conference meet."
Leading the way for the Monett boys was Micah Miller, who finished in 23rd place. He had a time of 18:56 on the 3.1-mile course.
Other results for the Cubs: Isaac Weber, 42nd with a time of 19:37; Juan Renteria, 57th with a time of 20:12; Bill Townsend, 58th with a time of 20:15; Connor Kimzey, 70th with a time of 20:57; and Daniel Bryan, 96th with a time of 23:34.
Purdy had four runners compete at the meet. They were: Josiah Jones, 66th with a time of 20:47; Scottie Klein, 79th with a time of 21:52; Corey Kelley, 82nd with a time of 22:01; and Devin Keeler, 101st with a time of 24:54.
Monett did not place in team scores in the varsity girls race with only two girls participating. Running for the Lady Cubs were: Lauren Sebastian, 73rd with a time of 25:40; and Chelsey Jones, 81st with a time of 28:41
Placing for the Cassville Ladycats was Jessica Barrientos. She was 24th with a time of 23:01.
In the two-mile junior varsity boys run, Monett finished eighth out of 20 teams.
Running for the jayvee Cubs were: Caleb Blue, 65th with a time of 13:52; Luke Verhoff, 68th with a time of 13:55; Michael Morley, 71st with a time of 14:03; Jacques Du Plessis, 77th with a time of 14:08; Ryan Saunders, 82nd with a time of 14:30; and Gunnar Pryor, 99th with a time of 17:25.
For the Monett jayvee girls, Whitney Dahlstrom was 48th with a time of 16:36.
Monett will run again on Tuesday in the annual Monett Invitational at South Park.
