She was born May 30, 1923, in Verona, the daughter of the late Harvey Estel and Chloe Caldwell Henson. She was married to Sam Walton, who passed away in 1943. She then was united in marriage to Melvin Ray Halsey on September 2, 1955, and he preceded her in death October 20, 1994.
Mrs. Halsey was retired from Juvenile Shoe in Aurora, Missouri. She was a Baptist and also a member of the Pony and Mule Drivers of Pierce City, Missouri.
She is survived by one daughter: Sandra and husband, David Harrison, of Overland Park, Kan.; one brother: Lewis Henson, of Verona; and two grandchildren: Kent and Pamela.
Mrs. Halsey was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Henson; one brother, Lawrence Henson; and one grandson, Wayne Harrison.
Visitation will be Friday, September 11, 2009 from 6 till 7 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Monett IOOF Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
