It was a pretty successful weekend for the Monett softball team. The visiting Lady Cubs defeated Crane, 5-0, in a non-conference game on Friday and then won two out of three games in the Ash Grove Tournament on Saturday to take second place.
"Overall, I was pleased with our weekend," said Monett Coach Ty Goetz.
"In the first two games of the tournament we did a nice job of hitting with runners on," he continued. "We only struck out six times in three games in the tournament. The championship game we just couldn't get a break. We hit the ball hard at times, but Ash Grove would come up with a great play. Defensively we need to be sharper."
