The Purdy FFA Chapter and its alumni will host their third annual truck and tractor pull in Purdy on Friday, Aug. 28 and Saturday, Aug. 29. Events will start at 7 p.m. both nights.
The event will be held a half-mile south of Purdy on the east side of Highway 37.
On Aug. 28 will be the tractor-only pull. All the competitors will be old and antique tractors provided by the Shoal Creek Antique and Classic Tractors. Admission will be $3. Youth age 6 and under will be admitted free both nights.
|Both trucks and tractors will compete for prizes in pulls on Saturday. Entries will include hot rod tractors as well as stock farm tractors, plus hot rod two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive pickups.||Competitors can enter for $20. The entry fee is reduced to $15 for members. Spring River Association pulling rules apply.|
There are 23 divisions in the Saturday show. Top prize of $100 will be paid for first place in the combined class of super farmer tractor and pro field tractor. A $75 first place prize is offered in 10 categories, including super farm tractor, pro and super stock tractor, hot farm tractor, single engine open tractor, two-wheel drive pickup, division 3 pickup and open pickup.
Seven divisions pay a top prize of $40. Categories include stock tractor, showroom stock pickup, street stock pickup, pro stock tractor and stock tractor.
Each tractor or pickup can be entered in only two classes.
The sled to be pulled is supplied by Spring River Pulling Association. Clifton "MP" Wells from Ridgeley will serve as master of ceremonies.
Admission on Saturday will be $7. Those attending are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
The Purdy FFA will have concessions available both nights.
