Merle Bowers

Mrs. Merle Ozell Bowers, 92, of Purdy, passed away at 3 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Monett Health Care. She was born December 19, 1916, in Stella, Missouri, the daughter of the late Roscoe and Ida (Brewer) Wyatt. She was united in marriage to Lowell Bowers on October 17, 1932, in Neosho, Missouri, and he preceded her in death June 30, 1980.

Merle was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Purdy, Missouri.

She is survived by three sons: Kenneth Bowers, of Purdy; Richard Bowers, of San Ramon, California, and Malloy Bowers, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister: Carrie McMillan, of Shawnee, Okla.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Purdy with Rev. Tony Martin officiating. Burial will be at the Muncie Cemetery near Wheaton, Mo. Visitation will be from 6 till 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett. Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Purdy in care of the funeral home.
