Bennie Burton

Harold Benson "Bennie" Burton, 62, of Aurora, passed away at 7:50 a.m., on Sunday, August 16, 2009, at his home. He was born on January 22, 1947 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Harold B. Sr. and Lucretia Delezene (Roberts) Burton. On July 1, 1989 he married Linda (Dalton) Clay in Chula, Missouri. Benny worked as a general superintendent for Ozark Mountain Apparel and was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of Quails Unlimited and loved antique tractors and steam engines, and often attended shows.

Those surviving him include: his wife Linda of the home; two sons and their wives, Donald and Angie Burton of Springfield, and Daren and Kim Burton of Alexandria, Louisiana; two stepchildren and their spouses, Athena and Michael Melnicki of Joplin and, Jeremy and Kim Clay of Aurora; six grandchildren, Eric, Matthew, Seth, Tyler and Andrew Burton, and Riley Melnicki; three brothers, Randy Burton of Corpus Christi, Texas, Bill Burton and his wife, Lisa, and Gary Burton all of Cassville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents, and his sister, Linda Scott, preceded him in death.

Funeral service were held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial in the Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18 in the funeral home.
