It will be a rebuilding year for the Monett Cubs girls tennis team, according to Coach Bob Crain, as the team prepares for the season opener Monday at home against Carthage.
"We lost our top four players from last season when we were 9-4," said Crain. "The team is currently playing challenges to determine the line up."
Returning starters and lettermen this season are juniors Brittany Huebner and Katelyn Sperandio.
Crain listed senior newcomer Millie Fulton, junior Nrupa Desai, sophomore Sophie Fulton, junior Carrie Robbins, junior Theresa Mangler and junior Kerry Tinklepaugh as top prospects.
Other players are sophomores Mindy Kilgore, Alivia Gilliam, Samantha Vore and Brianna Petersen.
"I hate to name standout players, because it looks like a very balanced team this year," Crain said.
|Conference matches will be competitive, the coach said.||"Aurora and Lamar improved greatly at the end of last year and only lost a few varsity players," Crain said.|
