Lawrence County was the site of two back-to-back accidents early this morning.
A Pierce City man was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash on Lawrence County Farm Road 1100 two and a half miles north of Monett at 2:15 a.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Samuel L. Hyde, 28, was airlifted to St. John's Hospital in Springfield after the 2000 Hyundai Accent he was driving travelled off the roadway, struck a barbed wire fence and several trees and then came to rest in a field.
The Patrol report indicated that Hyde was not wearing a seat belt.
The second traffic crash occurred at 2:23 a.m. on Lawrence County Farm Road 2210 two miles north of Pierce City.
Jace Butterworth, 22, of Verona, was travelling eastbound when he failed to negotiate a curve, struck a tree and overturned several times.
Butterworth was taken by ambulance to Cox Monett Hospital and treated for moderate injuries. According to the Patrol, Butterworth was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.
Jake Blamey, 31, and Jake Weishaar, 24, both of Verona and both passengers in the Butterworth vehicle, were taken by ambulance to St. John's Hospital in Joplin with moderate injuries. According to the Patrol, it is unknown whether or not Blamey and Weishaar were wearing seat belts.
