The Den will be hosting a community open house from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17. The event is being held to give area residents an opportunity to tour the new youth center, which is located above Mocha Jo's coffee shop on Broadway in downtown Monett.
"We want to say thank you and brag on how wonderful the response has been thus far from the Monett community," said Kelley Cloud, a member of The Den Board of Directors.
Since the facility opened on July 19, over 270 teenagers have come through The Den's doors. The youth center is open from 4 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 6 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Cloud said the open house will also give community members the chance to ask questions about The Den and get to know the staff and volunteer board members who oversee facility operations.
"The open house is come and go as you please," said Cloud. "You can stay the whole two hours or only drop by for 10 minutes.
"Refreshments are complimentary, and of course, we serve only the best Mocha Jo's goodies," Cloud added.

Members of The Den Board include: Cloud, Mark and Lauren Holland, Ryan and Katie Mayhue, Neal and Betty Messer, Gordon Brown, Spencer and Ann Ellis, Amy Sampson, Gerry Bounds, Debbie Berger and Titus Fox.
