Bone, Cheevers, Essary top winners at Monett Speedway

Racing fans saw a wide range of contests Sunday at the Monett Speedway. Results from the races follow.

In the rookie division, taking first, second and third in the feature race were Rusty Forrest, Clayton Powell and Charles Hooper. Filling ou the top five were John Beard and Garrett Essary. Fourteen competed in the race.

Finishing first in the rookie heats were Rusty Forrest and Clayton Powell.

In the bomber feature, finishing in the top five, in order, were John Coats, Kelly Bremer, Brian Brown, Shawn Strong and Danny Boyd. Ten were in the race.

Winning the bomber heats were Kelly Bremer and John Coats.

In the pro-4 feature, finishing in the top five were Lonnie Muhlbauer, Kory Schudy, Pat Schudy, Kris Schudy and Darrin Widener. The feature had 13 racers.

Lonnie Muhlbauer and Kory Schudy won the pro-4 heats.

In the feature for the A-modified vehicles, 20 racers competed. Finishing in the top five were Johnny Bone Jr., Erik Maggard, Brent Manning, Brian Williams and Jason Meadors.

Winning the three heats for the A-modieds were Johnny Bone Jr., Jesse Stoval and Jackie Dalton.

In the feature for B-modified cars, finishing in the top five were Colt Cheevers, Steve Muilenburg, Roy Maynard, J.C. Morton and Jon Yeoman. There were 24 in the feature.

Winning heats for the B-modifieds race were Randy Belk, Roy Maynard and J.C. Morton.

In the feature race for late model cars, Ken Essary, Justin Wells, Gary Christian, Justin Asplin and Matt Menzie were the top five finishers out of 15 racers.

Winning the heats were Ken Essary and Gary Christian.

Two races are on the schedule for this week. On Aug. 12, there will be races for the U.S. modified touring series, bombers, legends and rookies. On Aug. 16, races will include late models, modifieds, special modifieds, bombers, pro-4 and rookie divisions. Sunday races start at 7:30 p.m., preceded with hot laps a half-hour earlier.

The Monett Speedway is located on Chapell Drive, north of Highway 60 across from IDF.
