Fall Sports Practices Set At Monett High School

Monett High School fall sports practices will begin Monday, Aug. 10 for the sports of volleyball, girls tennis, soccer, cross country, softball and football.

Volleyball tryouts will be held Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 10-11, at the high school gymnasium, according to Coach Shyrah Boyle. Tryouts will be from 8 to 10 a.m. and from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Tennis Coach Bob Crain said practice will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Monett North Park courts. In case of rain, wet courts or threat of lightning, the tennis players will meet at the high school for training.

Soccer Coach Jeremy Wilson said practice will start at 6 a.m. at the Eisenhower Fields.

Cross country practice will begin at 7 a.m. at the pavilion behind the lake at Monett South Park, according to Coach Andy Lemons.

Softball Coach Ty Goetz said practice will be from 7 a.m. to noon with an hour break from 9 to 10 a.m. on Aug. 10, 11 and 12 at Monett South Park. Practice on Thursday, Aug. 13 and Friday, Aug. 14, will be from 4 to 8 p.m.

Football practice will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10 through Wednesday, Aug. 12, and then beginning Thursday, Aug. 13, it will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the high school football practice field, according to Coach Alan Spencer.

All physicals must be turned in by athletes before they will be allowed to practice.
