Harold Lee Williams passed away on July 19, 2009, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, Mo.
He was born April 21, 1921, to Herbert and Glen (Thomas) Williams who both preceded him in death. Harold owned a farm south of Aurora where he spent time raising award-winning cattle. He was well known in the community as a successful farmer who was always ready and willing to help his neighbors. He was a charter member and former president of the Aurora Saddle Club. He proudly served in the Army Air Force during World War II and traveled around the world as an airplane mechanic.
He was married to Harriet Fly and was the father of a son, Sammy Lee, and a daughter, Linda Hartwigsen. He was preceded in death by his wife and daughter. His second wife, Ruth Bailey, also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Sammy and daughter-in-law, Sue Allmart, from Mexico, Mo.; and step-sons, Joe and Sonny Bailey. Also surviving are three grandsons, Jason Williams, New Orleans, La., Patrick Williams, Bates City, Mo., and Dennis Hartwigsen, Texas; and three granddaughters, Lori and Andy Dittberner, St. Charles, Mo., Lisa Hartwigsen, Aurora, Mo., and Bridget and Danny Bingham, Mexico, Mo.; and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Gene and Ylene Williams, Marionville, Mo., Roy and Valda Williams, Springfield, Mo., Tom and Lee Williams, Aurora, Mo., Charles and Delores Williams, Sunrise Beach, Mo., Martin and Garlene Williams, Unionville, Mo.; and sisters, Elsa Manes, Springfield, Mo., Willodean Vaught, Cassville, Mo., Rebakah and Rex Miller, Cassville, Mo., Evalina and Gene Shippee, Aurora, Mo., and Glenna Edmondson, Cassville, Mo. Special friend Aileen Evans also survives as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Funeral services were held July 22 at Peterson Funeral Home with interment at Maple Park Cemetery.
