Wilbur moved to Monett in 1954 where he was employed at JayZee Inc. as a mechanic. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Monett. He was well known for his paintings of the Ozarks.
Along with his wife, other survivors include: two sons, Bob Howerton and Gary Howerton, both of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Wilbur was preceded in death by one sister, Hester Carr.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri, with Charlene Dart officiating. Burial will be in the Monett IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 1, 2009, from 9 till 10 a.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett, Missouri.
