"It is going great," said organizer May Xee Xiong.
"We have a lot of supporters. We've heard nothing but new good news every Saturday from our customers," Xiong said. "We even have a lot of regular customers who buy from every stand not because they ran out of radishes or onions, but because they want to support us. Got to love them."
According to weekly numbers gathered at the market, around 150 cars have come to the market each week. Customers have included a total of over 300 adults and around a dozen children.
Xiong has been impressed by the vendors and their children.
"You should come and visit the market and locate Ying Thao," Xiong said. "She greets everyone with a happy smile, and her personality keeps you coming back. She is only 10 years old and will be going to fifth grade this coming fall. She helps her mother on the farm, and she has not missed a Saturday since we've open."
The continued success of the market is due in part to its central location, Xiong said.
"We are very grateful for Glen and Sharon Garrett for allowing us to use the location. We can't thank them enough," said Xiong. "We are also very grateful to the city of Monett for allowing us to have the market there."
The market is open every Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon.
