The seventh annual Cub Football Camp for young Monett athletes in third through eighth grades will be held July 14, 15 and 16 at the practice field behind Monett High School, according to Head Football Coach Alan Spencer.
"The purpose of the camp is to have fun, learn the fundamentals of the game of football and be a positive part in the future of the Cub football team," Spencer said.
The camp is open to anyone that wishes to learn and improve playing skills, motivation, and knowledge of the game, he said.
Session one for third through sixth grades will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. Session two for seventh and eighth grades will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost is $35. Contact Coach Spencer if a parent has more than one child attending.
Registration will be 8:30 a.m. for session one and at 5:30 p.m. for session two in the high school gymnasium.
Included at the camp will be team stretching, offensive skills and defensive skills.
Campers should wear gym shoes, shorts, light-colored T-shirts and socks. Each athlete should bring cleats and a snack. Drinks and snacks will be sold during the break. Water will be provided at all times during camp. Campers should wear sunscreen but not sunglasses.
In case of inclement weather, the camp will be moved inside to the gymnasium.
Senior MHS players will assist the coaching staff during camp.
