Work begins this week on Highway 60 passing lanes

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

Work on constructing passing lanes east of Monett on Highway 60 will begin this week.

Journagan Construction has the contract, reported Wendy Bruner-Lewis with the Missouri Departof of Transportation's District Seven. is doing the work. Construction will start on July 8, about a week earlier than initially expected.

"The tentative plan is to split the job near Billings, with the first portion constructed being the south side of Highway 60 from Monett to Billings," Bruner-Lewis said. "Coldmilling of the existing asphalt will be the first operation. Grading crews will start their work approximately three days behind the milling crew. The asphalt crew will follow the millers by about two weeks, depending on progress.

"Grading will start on the west portion, beginning at Monett on the south side and heading east. This work should begin July 16," Bruner-Lewis said.

Work is to be completed by November 20.
