Mr. Stanley E. Marbut, 74, of Purdy, Missouri passed away Monday, July 6, 2009 at Missouri Rehabilitation Center Mt. Vernon, Missouri. He was born October 25, 1934 in Purdy, Missouri the son of the late Brit Olda and Mayme (Edwards) Marbut. He was united in marriage to Patsy Miller on February 1, 1955 in Purdy, Missouri and she survives.
Stanley graduated from Purdy High School in 1952. He joined the United States Air Force in 1954 and retired on disability retirement in 1967. He worked for the United States Postal Service for ten years and retired from United States Civil Service as Airfield Manager in 1991 at Kelly AFB, San Antonio, Texas. After retirement he spent his leisure time on a farm near Purdy. Stanley served as Treasurer of the Arnhart Cemetery for the last twelve years.
Along with his wife Stanley is survived by one daughter: Pamela Lane of Houston, Texas; one son: Edward Scott Marbut of San Antonio, Texas; one grandson: Timothy Edward Lane; one granddaughter: Callision Faith Carnes; three sisters: Betty McQueen of McKinney, Texas, Wilma Schaeffer of Great Falls, Montana, and Rose (Jimmy Rex) Terry of Kansas City, Missouri; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Stanley was also preceded in death by one son Christy Lee Marbut, one brother Doyle Dempsey Marbut, two sisters Mary Mackey, and Norma Jean Marbut.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Arnhart Cemetery Purdy, Missouri with Rev. Bert Ward officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2009, from 6 p.m. till 7:30 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home Monett, Missouri
In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to the Arnhart Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
