"Hot Rod" Gerald W. Isbell, 54, of Monett, Missouri passed away at 6:15 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2009, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born January 12, 1955 in Houston, Texas to the late James and Florence (Ihrie) Isbell.
Hot Rod was employed as a painter at Hydro Aluminum in Monett.
He is survived by two sisters: Betty Terry and husband Johnny of Purdy, Missouri, and Sandy Alford and husband Dave of Monett, Missouri; one brother: James "Pooch" Isbell of Monett, Missouri; four nieces: Kimberly Isbell of Pierce City, Missouri, Emily Mettlach and husband Lance of Monett, Missouri, Ashley Alford of Monett, Missouri, and Casey Isbell of Unionville, Missouri; three nephews: Jason Isbell of Washburn, Missouri, Derek Isbell of Unionville, Missouri, and Christian Isbell of Monett, Missouri; one great-niece: Madeline Mettlach of Monett, Missouri; one great-nephew: Brysten Duncan of Pierce City, Missouri; and a special friend of the family Melina Africa of Monett, Missouri.
Hot Rod along with his parents was also preceded in death by one brother Robert "Mouse" Isbell.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home Monett, Missouri with Derek Isbell officiating. Burial will be in the Monett I..O.O.F Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. at Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Hot Rod Isbell Athletic Fund in care of the funeral home.
