After last week's heat wave, most area residents are wondering what to expect during the remainder of the summer. With temperatures and humidity likely to climb again, the local emergency management office urges residents to take precautions over the next few months.
"We recommend that people, who don't have a good air conditioner in their homes, to to an area that has adequate air conditioning when the temperature rises above 90 and the humidity climbs over 80 percent," said David Compton, Barry County Emergency Management director. "Monett and Cassville both have YMCAs and senior centers available. Other public buildings, such a libraries, offer good air-conditioned environments."
