The annual "Y" Not "Tri" sprint triathlon will be held Saturday, July 11 in Cassville. The endurance event is being sponsored again this year by the Cassville YMCA. Race director is Stacy McKenzie, wellness director at the Monett YMCA.
According to McKenzie, she is expecting this year's triathlon to attract more participants.
"My goal is to have 50 participants," said McKenzie.
Area residents are reminded that they can sign up for the triathlon in advance or on the day of the race. All who register will receive a free T-shirt.
The sprint triathlon includes a 400-yard swim, a 15-mile bike and a three-mile run. The event is open to individuals and teams. The cost is $35 for individuals and $65 for teams. On the day of the race, the registration cost will be $5 higher.
Medals will be awarded to the top overall male and female and the top three finishers in each division. Race divisions for male and females are as follows: 15 to 19; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; and 60 and older.
The "Y" Not "Tri" sprint triathlon will begin at the Cassville Aquatic Center at 8 a.m. The registration cut-off will be 7:45 a.m., according to McKenzie.
