Out-slugged in the first game and out-pitched in the second, the Monett American Legion Post baseball team dropped a pair of games to McDonald County last night at Monett.

After McDonald County plated four runs in the top of the first inning in the first game, Monett responded with seven runs in the bottom of the second. Chris Trout and Pokey Henderson had RBI singles and Preston Thompson drove in two runs with a single. Andy Hagedorn finished the scoring with a three-run homer.
McDonald County answered with a seven-run inning in the third to take the lead for good.
In the fourth, Monett got a pair of runs when Jake Smith singled in a run and scored from third when Brendon Meeks was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Monett got two more runs in the fifth when Smith drove in two runs with a single. In the sixth, Henderson and Colten Phillips had RBI singles.
Josh Wiseman took the loss on the mound for Monett.
Monett fell behind 3-0 after the first inning and the second game as was not able to recover.
The Monett team will be in action at home Thursday against Aurora.
