Martin "Mike" Schoen, 89, of Mt. Vernon, Mo., passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009, at his home in Mt. Vernon, Mo.
Mr. Schoen was born January 3, 1920, in Freistatt, the son of Otto and Anna Korff Schoen. He was a dairy farmer and a life-long resident of the Freistatt community. He loved spending time with his family and attending horse shows.
He married Erna Emma Brockschmidt on November 14, 1943, and she survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Dale Schoen and his wife, Carol, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Dwayne Schoen and his wife, Ellen, of Mt. Vernon, Mo.; three daughters, Linda Wiehe and her husband, Charles, of Stotts City, Mo., Louanna Chapman and her husband, Dale, of Mt. Vernon, Mo., and Dian Luffman and her husband, Allen, of Nashville, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Kelvin Schoen. Mike was the last sibling of 10 brothers and sisters who preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, Mo., with Pastor Ryan Buchmuller and Wilbur Claude officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Freistatt, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Buchanan Funeral Home.
