Monett will host Missouri's Babe Ruth State Softball Tournament from Friday, June 26, through Sunday, June 28, at the North Park complex, announces Kirk Verhoff, president of the Monett Youth Baseball and Softball League.
In addition to Monett, teams will be from Boonville, Heartland, Houston, Washington, Macon, Mineral Area, Sikeston, Sarcoxie, Mt. Vernon, and Aurora.
The event will determine which top two teams from the 10-and-under, 12-and-under, 14-and-under, and 16-and-under divisions will move on to their respective regional tournaments.
District baseball will be the event at the North Park fields, beginning July 9 and continuing through July 12. This will be the 9-and-under and 11-and-under boys district playoffs. The top winner of each of these divisions will move onto the state level of competition. The towns that will be coming to Monett will be Cassville, Sarcoxie, Mt. Vernon and Aurora.
In addition, there will be an 8-and-under tournament consisting of Monett's rookie All-Stars. "This is a tournament for bragging rights only," said Verhoff.
"Each year we host tournaments like this and year after year we are told how wonderful our fields are," Verhoff stated "We always respond that we are a very fortunate town to have a community that supports us extremely well. Please join us for some good ball."
