The annual recital by the Mary Beck Studio of Dance will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 7 at Taylor Auditorium on the campus of Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. The season-ending recital will include 35 performances, both ensemble and solo presentations. Admission is free.
Twenty-one of the dance numbers were taken to competition at the Dance Masters of America, Chapter 27, regional judging in Tulsa. All earned medals, from silver to gold.
Twelve solos will be offered by the school's senior students. Gold medal winning routines will be presented by Mariah Weslin ("My Love Is A Red, Red Rose" and "Kansas City"), Sophie Mueller ("Hit The Road Jack"), Brooke Cornell ("Double Dutch Bus") and Alex Bahl ("Slipping Through My Fingers").
Duo performances, all medal winners, will be given at the recital by Madison Couch and Madison Horner, Alex Bahl and Mariah Westlin, and Katie Rutherford and Sydney Williams. The remainder of the selections will be ensemble numbers, featuring dances from the youngest age group through high school.
The Mary Beck School of Dance has studios in Monett and Cassville. Mary Beck and Kay Kaiser are the instructors. Dance assistants are Mariah Westlin and Sheila Roark-Enos.
